The lab has the most comprehensive confinement facilities and fields for genetic characterizations and biosafety evaluations of genetically modified (GM) crops. Endowed with these advanced setups, the lab is facilitating: 1) the implementation of statutory isolation field trials; 2) the approval process of GM crops by way of the evaluation of target traits and commercialization potential; 3) the establishment of GM crop field trial regulations and capacity; and 4) the provision of all-inclusive biosafety database for the Council of Agriculture as a reference in policy decision-making process for GM crops.
