The key areas of research include: 1) the surveillance and development of diagnostic techniques and materials to reduce the risk of invasive quarantine insect pests and to ensure the safety of agricultural production environment; 2) the development of new poison lures to control oriental fruit fly and melon fruit fly; 3) the development and evaluation of the effective IPM strategies and tactics to control oriental fruit fly and melon fruit fly so as to increase the farmers’ income; 4) the development of molecular diagnostic techniques of important agricultural insect pests and their natural enemies so as to strengthen response capacity for epidemic emergencies, and mass production of natural enemies as a means of improving biological control programs.
