Abstract
臺灣的柚品種以麻豆文旦最出色，為求品種的多樣化及擴大栽培地區，於民國53年以麻豆文旦為母本，麻豆白柚、紅文旦、盤谷文旦、蜜柚、斗柚及椪柑等品種為父木，舉行人工授粉。同年秋季採果後，即行播種、育苗。56年選取部份雜交苗，高接於本分所的18年生柚子成樹。67-68年間選出〔麻豆文旦×紅文旦〕之優良系統，早、中生種（9月下旬～10月中旬）。品質優、果肉呈均勻的粉紅色至鮮紅色。其中兩株系具有單為結果性。另選出一株系對柑橘根腐線蟲具有抵抗性。
Among the pummielo cultivars in Taiwan, Matou Wentan (Mato Buntan) is the best performer both in qualities and horticultural characteristics. CAES of TARI began her pummelo hybrid breeding program around 1956, to improve the fruit qualities and to find new cultivars for farmers’ choices and ones can grow elsewhere in this island and perform equally sound as in Matou area. By using Matou Wentan as mathernal trees an Matou paiyu (Mato Peyu), Red Wentan, (Beni Buntan) Panku Wentan (Kaopan), Mieyu (Mitzuyu), Touyu and Ponkan as Pollinators, CAES breeders pollinated the trees in the spring and sow the hybrid seeds in the fall in 1956. The bud-woods from these hybrid seedling trees were top-worked on to mature trees in the experimental plots in CAES at 1964. Some hybrid selections from (Matou Wentan×Red Wentan) are evenly pink to brightly red fleshed and very excelent fruit qualities were selected in 1978 to 1979. Two of these selections can be fruited parthenocarpically and having the ability of producing seedless fruits as Matou Wentan do. One root-rot-nematode resistant selection is also found in this program.
