Abstract

Two cultivars of water convolvulus, cv. Pingtung Green Stem (pointed leaf) and cv. White Stem (broad leaf) were planted in paddy and upland fields jn early July, August, September and October of 1978. The days of flowering after planting (DFAP) of these two cultivars indicated shortened period when planted late. They showed similar horticultural characters and seed production potentialities. 屏東青骨尖葉蕹菜與白骨大葉蕹菜分別於7、8、9及10月種植於水田與旱田不同之栽培生育環境中，這兩品種蕹菜除開花時間隨種植時期之延緩而縮短到達開花所需之日數外，其餘各項園藝性狀與種子生產潛力幾乎相似，7月份種植者到達開花所需之日數，白骨蕹菜約為49天，青骨蕹菜約為80天，而10月份種植者因為插植時插穗已帶有花蕾，於種植後翌日即開花，栽培環境對兩品種蕹菜之開花時間幾乎沒有影響，但品種間則有差異，白骨蕹菜比青骨蕹菜較早開花。
