Abstract
A species of medicinal plant introduced from Java by Mr. I-Jui Liao (廖以銳) being called “kachipten” in Taiwan, is cultivated in southern parts of this Island. It is said that a decoction of leaves has a good clinical effect in patients with kidney or bladder stone. With use of specimen planted in Taipei for determination, the author identified this plant to be Clerodendrum calarnitosum L. (Verbenaceae). The author considers that the name “Kachipten” is a corrupt word of Javan name “ketji beling”. Clerodendrum calarmitosum Linn. Mant. Vol. I, p. 90 (1767); DC. Prodr.
