Abstract
Field-grown mature plant residues (debris) of purple nutsedge and barnyardgrass were incorporated into the soil to determine their allelopathic potential on the emergence and seedling growth of corn. Influence of temperature on the magnitude of weed residue effects was also investigated. It was found that soils incorporated with weed residues reduced both the cumulative and the maximal emergence rates of corn at 20 and 25℃ but not at 33℃ of purple nutsedge treatment.
