Abstract
園藝作物包括果樹、蔬菜、花卉等，在各類農作物生產中扮演相當重要之角色，尤其近年來隨著經濟繁榮與國民生活水準之提高，水果、蔬菜、花卉之消費量亦有明顯之增加，台灣光復當年(民國三十四年)園藝作物生產面繫緊53,539公頃，佔該年作物生產總面積之6.4%，其產值則為農業生產總值之9.9%。至民國七十四年園藝作物生產面積擴充至386,548公頃，佔當年作物生產總面積之30.1%，產值高達新台幣590億元，佔農產品生產總值之46.6%，園產品之高產值及在整體農業經營上所佔之重要由此可見。
Among crop productions, horticultural crops (fruit, vegetable and flower) play an important role. In recent years, the consumption of fruit, vegetable and flower increased sharply due to the economic development and promotion of per capita income. In 1945, there were 53,539 hectares for horticultural production, only 6.4% of total crop production area and 9.9% of total crop production value. In 1985, the horticultural crop production area expanded to 386,548 hectares which was 30.1% of total crop production area, and the production value reached 59 billion NT dollars which was 46.6% of total crop production value. The high production value and importance of horticultural crops in agriculture is very obvious.
