Abstract
During the past four years, five prefectures in Taiwan have been grossly surveyed by the author. There. were six kinds of nemas to be found associated with citrus feeder roots, i. e. the Tylenchulus, semipenetrans, the Pralylenchus praten.sis, the Meloidogyne sp ., the Cricone, noides citri, the Rotylenchus multicinctus and the Aphelenchus avenae. Among them, the T. seinipenetrans seems to have a wide distribution and a predominant amount in common citrus orchards. The trifoliate orange root stock was found to be highly resistant to it, while the Canton lemon (C. limonin seems to be more susceptible than the Sunki (C. reticulate var Sunki Toung) Commonly used as rootstock in. Taiwan. The Pratylenchus pratensis was found to have a considerable amount in two citrus sections-Yan-gmingshan and Sanjau. The Meloidogyne sp. (asiatic pyroid citrus nema) was found in three citrus locations of Yangrningshan, but other places have not as yet been found. Judging from its host range and its different perineal pattern, it would be a new species or new variety. Its single egg mass culture is being carried out The Criconemoides cifri, the Rotylenchus multicinctus, and the Aphelenchus avenae were found in some root samples, but their amounts were so rare that their economic importance for citrus in Taiwan seems to be minute.
