本文述及烏來杜鵑（R. kanehirai Wilson）、中原氏杜鵑（R. nakaharai Hayata）、金毛杜鵑（R. oldhamii Maxim）及唐杜鵑（R. simsii Planch）等四個臺灣原生種之野生分佈、生態、特徵及在嘉義地區栽培之生長狀況。參試之四種原生杜鵑花的扦插發根成活率介於56~90%。經二年馴化試驗後顯示除唐杜鵑外，其他三種皆生長良好，花期亦較野生分佈長，具有馴化為園藝觀賞及育種親本之潛力。
In this paper, we discussed the distribution, ecology, characteristics and their growth potentiality of four native Rhododendron species including R. kanehirai Wilson, R. nakaharai Hayatea, R. oldhamii Maxim and R. simsii Planch in southern part of Taiwan. We found that the native Rhododendron species could grow well in southern part of Taiwan, besides the flowering period was longer than wild type with a significant difference. These species could be useful as ornamental plants and the parents for breeding.
