Abstract
稻作是臺灣最重要之糧食作物之一。臺灣稻作有系統之改良是於西元 1895 年，日本進佔臺灣後才啟其端。本文之主要內容首在系統概述臺灣稻作改良之常用育種方法；其次則簡述臺灣地區稻作育種流程之變遷；最後從廳屬各農業試驗場所在臺灣地區稻作改良之各階段性任務中，提出個人對臺灣稻作育種之省思，供大家一齊來思考。
Rice is one of the most important food crops in Taiwan. However, the planned and systematic rice improvement program was firstly conducted in 1895, the year of Taiwan occupied by Japanese. The objectives of this article were briefly to retrospect the methodologies applied to rice breeding in Taiwan and changes in rice breeding systems adapted. Finally, a contemplating topic on prospect of rice breeding in Taiwan was proposed based on the view of author.
