Abstract
北插天山位於臺北縣三峽鎮，為雪山山脈北支，海拔高度自 1000 公尺至 1700 公尺。母質源自漸新世之京岩與頁岩互層。植生主要為針闊葉混淆林，稜線上主要植物為臺灣山毛櫸 (Fagus hayatae) 與紅星構鵑 (Rhododendron hyperythrum Hayata)。氣候為冷涼濕潤多雨霧型態，地勢陡峭。
Beichateinshan Mountains area is long-drawn northern along-side of Hsushan, with the elevation varied from 1000 to 1730 meters. Parent materials are almost sandstone and shale in alternation and belong to Oligocene age. Vegetation are dominantly with coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forests. Fagus hayatae and Rhododendron hyperythrum Hayata are the main plants on the ridge of the mountains.
