Abstract
本省檬果之栽培面積達的，035公頃，主要分布在台南縣43%、屏東縣35%、及高雄縣15%，為本省栽培面積最多之熱帶果樹。
除「本地種土芒果」外，栽培品種以愛文、海頓、聖心及晚生種之凱特為主。民間選育新品種之「金煌一號」鳳山分所育成之「台農一及二號」新品種，亦將成為栽培品種。
本省水果栽培，因農村勞力之變遷，近來檬果之栽培面積增達近20,000公頃，顯見檬果產業在本省熱帶果樹栽培中之重要。品種改良，栽培技術，果團經營，及調節產期等技術之檢討，期有助於突破當前栽培之瓶頸。
Mango, with its acreage of more than 19 thousand hectares, is the largest tropical fruit crop in Taiwan. The major planting areas are Tainan (43% ), Pingtung (35% ) and Kaohsiung (15% ) prefectures. Native, Irwin, Sensation and Keitt are presently the dominate cultivars. However, three newly released varieties, namely, Jin-huang No.1, Tai-nong No.1 and No.2 are potentically popular cultivars in the near future.
As the economic and industrial development in Taiwan preceed in a rapid pace, the agricultural labor shortage has been predominant in these years. To solve the high cost and short labor problem, mor~ aggressive breeding and orchard management improvement programs is urgent.
