Abstract
Present study deals with the number of infectious propagules by most probable number method, the spore density by wet sieving decating methods; the root length by gridline intersect methods, and to observed spores germination on the water agar medium with various concentration of Cd, Pb, or Cu, and those spores were isolated from Cd, Pb, or Cu polluted soils. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of heavy metals, soil ecosystem and vegetation on the population of spore and infectious propagules in three long-term heavy metal polluted soils. To analysis the dominate species and heavy metal tolerance of spore of VAMF in polluted soils. The results showed that the effects of soil ecosystem and root length of vegetation on the spore density, and the number of infectious propagules of VAMF were significant in long-term heavy metal polluted soils, but not on polluted soils with various concentration of Cu, Zn, Cd, or Pb. The spore density in those soils were highly variable, e.g. the highest appeared in the cadmium and zinc polluted soil of Taoyuan area, and the lowest appeared in the lead and zinc polluted soil of Changhua area. Glomus occultum spores were most abundant in Cd, Pb and Zn polluted soils. G. introradices, G. ocultum and a unknown Glomus sp. spore were most abundant in Cu polluted soil. The heavy metal tolerance of spores were isolated from higher concentration heavy metal polluted soils which was higher than that of the spores isolated from lower concentration polluted soils. The heavy metal tolerance of spores isolated from both soils was higher than that in normal field soils, and above data indicated that effects of host plants on control of propagules number and heavy metals resistance in VAMF is also high.
