Abstract
Studies with detached leaf segments of rice Taichung Native 1 exposed to mild water stress showed that increased lipid peroxidation was closely correlated with senescence. A decrease in superoxide dismutase activity was evident 8 h after the initiation of water stress. However, catalase, peroxidase and ascorbate peroxidase activities decreased only when senescence was evident. Glutathione reductase was not affected by water stress.
