Abstract
1.瓜實蠅(Dacus cacurbitae Coquillett)為瓜類之重要害虫，據本分所於民國47年12月廣泛地調查結果，本省西部各縣市平均為害率高達32.5%。
為瓜實蠅之防治，本分所曾於民國46年3月卽着手研究其誘殺法，並於民國47年7月承農復會補助經費，在本省南物高雄、屏東二縣進行防治示範，曾獲有優越成果。
本分所為將此種有效誘殺法灌輸給全省瓜農，俾利該虫之防治，以期瓜果之增產計，特於民國48年4月承農復會補助經費(59-A-872)，負責舉辦全省瓜實蠅防治示範。
1.melon fly (Dacus cucurbitae Coquillett) is a very destructive pest to the cucurbitaceae. Depend upon the general survey of our station (Fengshan Tropical Horticultural Experiment Station) in December, 1958, the average percentage of the damage caused by melon fly was as higher as 32.5% in Taiwan.
For the purpose of melon fly control, we started to research on the methods of the Protein-toxin bait spray in March, 1957, and demonstrated the effective control measure in the districts of Kaohsiung and Pingtung with a very satisfactory result in July, 1958. It had undoutedly brought a high increase in yield and a great improvement in the quality of the melons.
In order to introduce this successful control measure to all farmers of this island and to increase a high yields of melons, an over-island demonstration on melon fly control was made in April, 1959.
