Abstract
本省西瓜栽培面積有三萬公頃，經濟價值甚高，惟西瓜易受毒素病為害甚烈，主要病毒種類初步觀察結果有WMV-1、CMV、ZYMV等，而且以複合感染之發生頻率較多。故農民生產不安定，損失頗重，有急待育成抗毒素病品種之必要。
There are about 30,000 hectares of watermelon production in Taiwan each year, the economic value is therefore very high. However, the watermelon productions are always unstable due to the severe damdges of virus diseases.
