Abstract
本書為農事試驗場特別報告第二十號,臺灣總督府農事試驗場出版第143號。圖版 1-14。
Among the more important insect pests of our economic plants in Formosa are those of the family Aphidiae or plant-lice.
Most of the species are of no economic importance, but there are many which are well known pests of our cultivated crops.
For example, Oregma lanigera (Zehntner) is a wide-spread pest, of considerable importance, of the sugar cane.
The cabbage aphis, Rhopalosiphum pseudobrassicae (Davis) and the cucumber aphis, Aphis malvae Koch are regarded by native growers as extremely troublesome pests, although they are easily killed with any of the common contact insecticides.
Aphis gossypii Glov., Aphis medicaginis Koch, Toxoptera aurantii (Boyer), Myzus persicae (Sulz.) and Pentalonia nigronervosa Coq. are also well known pests in our island.
These insects are kept well in check by their natural enemies, such as the ladybird-beetles, the syrphid flies, the lace-wings, the parasitic Hymenoptera, etc.
