Abstract
羽扇豆（Lupin）係本省北部地方茶園主要綠肥，可與南部地方水田之田菁相比議，為本省綠肥之二大余也。此植物不但可在第三紀層土壤上栽培繁殖且在第四紀洪積層上栽培獲到優異成績；一方可改良紅壤上性，他方得提高地力等，其為綠肥作物之效能，不勝枚舉。 現在本省普遍栽培之羽扇豆係為黃花種Yellow Lupin (Lupinus luteus)，豆中蛋白質含量頗為可觀，能與大豆匹敵，惟其中尚含有植物鹼(Lupioan alkaloid)不尠，故在本省，至今仍未聞有用為食糧或飼料之情形。
A study was made to turn lupin seed to a feedstuff for hogs. Lupin seed contains about 34 per cent of pure protein and more than one per cent alkaloid. . The experiment on the treatment of lupin seed as a feedstuff was carried out The optimal condition of the chemical treatment is to macerate the lupin seed with five times (vol. /wt.) hydrochloric acid solution of 23 per cent for three hours When the 2.5 per cent hydrochloric acid solution is used as a standard, most of the alkaloid can be eliminated, however, both of protein, and carbohydrate also eluted about to ten per cent respectively.
