Abstract

(一) 本省木瓜諸經濟化品種之特性，可就種子及苗期之葉部、莖部顏色各特徵，用為初步品種早期鑑別上之參考。 (二) 各品種生育情形，就株高、株粗、株寬、葉數各項百分比而言，以墨西哥鳳山二號及蘇魯鳳山一號，生長量最為健旺。其餘依次為本地種五號、本地鳳山系、墨西哥鳳山三號及菲律賓種。其中以菲律賓種，生育為最遲緩。 (三) 耐濕性之程度，依次為墨西哥鳳山三號、菲律賓種、墨西哥鳳山二號及蘇魯鳳山一號，本地種鳳山系及本地種五號。 (四) 就一般特性中果肉風味而言(包括糖度、食味、肉質)，以蘇魯鳳山一號為最優，墨西哥二號及本地種五號次之，墨西哥鳳山3號及本地種鳳山系中等，其中以菲律賓種風味最淡。 (五) 產量以蘇魯鳳山一號最豐，本地種五號及墨西二號次之，本地種鳳山系、菲律賓、墨西哥三號依次為最低。兩性株產量除蘇魯外，其餘諸品種均較雌株為低。 (六) 就各經濟化品種之生育、耐濕性、產量、風味加．以綜合比較，其中以蘇魯鳳山一號為最優，其次為墨西哥鳳山二號，在本省經濟栽培上有推廣之價值。 1. The identificetion of the commercial varieties of papayas cultivated in Taiwan can be based on the characteristics of seeds and color of leaves and stem of seedlings. 2. According to the percentage of growth measurement on plant height, plant diameter, plant width, and number of leaves, Mexican Fengshan No. 2 and Solo Fengshan No. I possess the greatest growth guantity. The remaining varieties are graded in series according to growth measurement: Local variety No. 5, Local Fengshan strain, Mexican Fengshan No. 3, and the philippine variety. Among these, the philippine variety is the slowest one in in growth. 3. Ability of resistance ts water of these varieties has been observed and ranked in the fallowing sequence: Mexican Fengshan No. 3, Philippine variety, Mexican Fengshan No. 2 and Solo Fengshan No. 1. Local variety Fengshan strain and Locol variety No. 5 were the weakest ones in resistance to water 4. As for flavor is concerned (including Brix, flavor, fresh, texture), Solo Fengshan No. 1 is the best. Mexican No. 2 and Local variety No. 5 are next to Solo. Mexican Fengshan No. 3 and Local variety Fengshan strain are considered to be medium class. The philippine variety is the poorest in flavor. 5. Solo Fengshan No. 1 has the highest yield in comparing with other varieties. Local variety No. 5 and Mexican No. 2 are the next. The yield of Local variety Fengshan strain the Philippine variety and Mexican No. 3 are low. The yield of hermaphrodite trees is lower than those of the female trees in all varieties except Solo. 6. From a Comprehensive comparison among growth characters, resistance to water, yield and flavor in all the commercial varieties in Taiwan, Solo Fengshan No. 1 io Considered to be the best variety, and the next is Mexican Fungshan No. 2. These two varieties are Worthwhile for extension for commercial cultivation in Taiwan.
