Abstract
Fusarial wilt of banana (Musa AAA 'Giant Cavendish' and 'Robusta'). caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense race 4, is affecting more than 1,500 hectares of banana plantations annuallyn in Taiwan. Cases per year increased from 1,500 in 1968 to more than 500,000 in 1983. The fungus was widely distributed in Pingtung and Kaohsiung counties, and also appeared sporadically in Changhua, Nantu, and Chia-I counties.
