Abstract
Field experiments of the effect of lime on peanut yield were conducted in 1950 and 1951. The results showed that 1,500-3,000kg./ha. of lime may increase more than 40% seed yield of peanut. The author suggested that response of peanut to lime is due to the fertility level of the soil more than to its p11 values. In other words, the peanut responses to lime more significantly on an infertile Soil than on a fertile soil. The author also suggested, after a review of the present situation of manuring of peanuts in Taiwan, that application of lime to peanuts on acid soils is a very favorable practice.
