Abstract
Grape-vine thrips (Rhipiphorothrips cruentatus Hood) is a destructive pest on wax-apple in southern Taiwan. it mainly attack leaves and causing them to be yellowen. The population proportions of grape-vine thrips on wax-apple leaves as the order of 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25 are 2.66 : 4.12 : 3.36 : 1.85 : 1; and that on the front and back surfaces of leaf are 1/6.54, 1/21.7, 1/9.16, 1/6.91, 1/5.98; and the rate of the adult and larva are 4.15/1, 1/1.42, 1/1.05, 2.26/1, 5.59/1, respectively. These indicate the grape-vine thrips are abundantly distributed on the back surface of young-middle leaves of wax-apple. Spraying Cyhalothrin in 2.8% EC, Decamethrin 2.8% EC and Carbosulfan 48.34% EC showed effective in checking the grape-vine thrips and the effect persisted to 21 days.
