The soil survey of Sin-Chi prefecture, Taiwan, was started in Sept. 1950 by Y. I. Tseng, S. T. Wang, and K. W. Leung.
Deta Concerning the soils. Topography, as well as general agriculture were surveyed; the soils were classified into series, types, and phases, the areas of each type were ascertained; and map showing location and distribution was prepared, Morphology of each type and phase was described with some data of Chemical composition and mechanicalanalyses. A general discussion of soil fertility, management and consurvation of this prefecture were also included, the restlts obtamed may be summarized as fellows:
Location Area an.d Popnlation The area of Sin-Chu prefecture is 1,482.47 sq. Km. being ab3ut 4.12, of the total area of Taiwan. It lies between longtitudes 120˚51’23”-121˚22’48” E, and latitudes 24˚25’55”-24˚56’50” N, situated in the northwestern part of this land. It’s population according to the census of 1951 is 362, 985 persons.
