再生稻栽培需於再生芽長至20cm時自土表3~5cm處行割椿處理,以提高再生稻之產量與米質;唯目前尚無高效率割椿機械可資應用,亟待研製開發,以因應再生稻栽培面積快速增加之迫切需要。本研究將中耕管理機之耕耘部份卸除,附掛往復式割椿裝置,並完成其動力傳動裝置,以做為水稻再生栽培時再生芽及前期作稻椿割除之作業機械。其割椿裝置係利用以梱紮刈取機所改裝雛型機之機構原理研製而成,主要機構為機架及割刀,其割刀之割斷速度比為1.2~1.7,處理後之漏割比率為1.1%;行走部則將中耕機之輪距加寬,並於左右各增一車輸;動力傳動裝置係由皮帶輪、皮帶、曲柄傳動軸、拉桿及割刀傳動臂等組成,其曲柄作業迴轉數為550~600rpm。田間試驗結果本機割椿作業能量為3.45hr/ha,較現行以背負式割草機作業約快5.0倍,且操作簡便省力。本機對中耕機原有功能均予保留,得隨時裝回其耕耘部以恢復其原有作業功能,使能一機數用,甚具經濟性。
