爲欲瞭解更多大豆葉片性狀及其與產量的關係，本所於75年春作及夏作種植大豆種源1,500品種（系）（來自16個國家及包含10個成熟期群）。每一種源種一行，行長1m，行距0.55m，每行播種20粒。調查的性狀包括末端小葉（即複葉中央之一片）之長、寬，及單株種子產量。於每株中央部位取一片末端小葉（以下均稱葉片），每種源取3株供葉片測量用。另外，每種源再取5株供調查單株種子產量用。所有葉片及植株之選取，均以逢機行之。又爲求增加樣本估值之精確性，本研究採用分層取樣法(Stratified random sampling method)，由各成熟期群中取1/10，共計取得150樣品（品種，系）爲本研究用材料。
To learn more about the leaf characters and their relationship to yield of soybeans, a total of 1,500 soybean germplasms which involving ten maturity groups and sixteen countries were grown in spring and summer crop seasons 1986. They were planted each in 1m row distance with 20 seeds per row and with 55cm row apart. Data included length and width of terminal leaflet, and yield per plant were collected. One terminal leaflet (name it as leaf hereafter) in middle position of stem was randomly measured, and respectively three terminal leaflets and five plants each row (genotype) were also randomly sampled for leaf measurement and yield weight. In order to increase the precision of the estimate of samples, stratified random sampling technique was adopted, and a total of 150 samples (genotypes) were used in the study.
