(一)在實用上應用今成植物荷爾蒙提高果實之著果率或產生無種子果實方面,過去僅有番茄較爲成功。據報告(1),在美國冬季溫室栽培上已達實用化,其所用方法有塗軟膏法(Paste)、噴霧法(Spray)及蒸氣法(Vapor)等。本試驗所用之塗軟膏法,手續稍較繁雜,但用於小規模之誘導單爲結果尚有實用價值,同時對於植株發生類似毒素病(Virus)之生理病及產生畸形果實之危險性較少。
2,4-D is a famous herbicide (weed-killing hormone,) effective at a concentration of as low as 0.1~0.5% but, when used at a still lower concentration, it has the invigorating effect similar to other phytohormones. In order to find out 2,4-D's efficiency in inducing parthenocarpy to tomato, tests were carried out with the ”Stone” variety tomato by means of the 2,4-D treatment. Meanwhile for purposes of comparison, another treatment by α-naphthaleneacetic acid was made as a check test. This tests took place during the period from October 1953 to April 1954, at Department of Horticulture, Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute, Taipei, Taiwan, China.
