The present experiment was conducted to study the effects of two nitrogen fertilizers on the yield and quality of mat rush over two years (1977 and 1979) . The results are summarized in the following:
1. No significant difference in fertilizer response was observed in term of dry weight of the glass between two kinds of fertilizers However, for good management of fertilizer application, it is suggested to apply ammonium sulphate at the early stage and urea at the later stage of growth.
2. There was no significant difference in nitrogen content in the straw measured at the different growing stage between two fertilizer treatments, the value obtained being around 2%.
3. It was estimated that the plot applied with urea costs 2898.30 N. T. dollar less than that applied with ammonium sulphate. In parallel to this, the yield of dry starw was also reduced up to 7 % which is equivalent to 15.1% reduction in commercial value.
