‘銘星’甜椒以128格穴盤6週苗為育苗對照組，處理組為72格、35格及3吋軟盆，並將育苗週數延長至9週及12週，依據幼苗生長速率及穴盤型式，選定穴盤與苗齡之組合為72格/9週、35格/9週、35格/12週、3吋盆/12週等四種。透過不同方式之壯苗指數配合數量性狀之相關分析，探討適當之苗齡與穴格容積組合，利用路徑分析法估算各種指數間之相關性，其中以相對壯苗指數4、5及複合壯苗指數2、5之決定係數（R^2；coefficient of determination）較高，並與各性狀之相關性最高。並經進一步分析性狀間之相關性後，顯示所有苗期性狀與4種壯苗指數均呈正相關，其中相對壯苗指數4與複合壯苗指數5與各項性狀之相關係數（r ≥ 0.9）最高，至少有4項性狀之係數值高於0.9，分別為葉面積、地上部鮮重、地下部鮮重及全株乾重。依據本試驗結果，利用簡單的相對壯苗指數4（＝地上部鮮重/株高），或選擇1個以上之相對指數與數量性狀組成的的複合壯苗指數5（＝（莖徑/株高）×全株乾重×葉片數），評估穴盤苗的品質較為準確。
In our research about the ”Andalus” Sweet Pepper (Capsicum annuum L.), we used 6-week seedlings grown in 128-plug as control. The treatment seedlings were raised in 72-plug, 35-plug, or 3-inch soft pots, and their seedling growth period was extended to 9-12 weeks. According to the growth speed of the seedlings and the types of seedling pots, we decided on four combinations, namely 72-plug at 9 weeks, 35-plug at 9 weeks, 35-plug at 12 weeks, and 3-inch pot at 12 weeks. Through an analysis of the correlation between seedling indexes and plants growth characteristics, we intended to find the suitable combination of seedling age and plug size, using the path analysis method to estimate the correlation between various indexes. The results showed that the deciding coefficient of relative seedling index No.4 and No.5, and compound seedling index No.2 and No.5, i.e. R^2 or coefficient of determination, was comparatively high. They bear the highest correlation with various seedling properties, indicating a high correlation between the indexes of these types of strong seedlings as against its seedling properties and a high reliability to evaluate seedling indexes. After a further analysis of its correlation with seedling properties, we found that there was a proportionate relation between all seedling properties and the 4 strong seedling indexes. In particular, the correlation coefficient between relative seedling index No.4 and compound seedling index No.5 and the seedling properties was the highest (r≥0.9). The coefficient values of at least 4 properties were higher than 0.9. These 4 properties were leaf area, shoot fresh weight, root fresh weight, and plant dry weight. In light of the result of this experiment, the highest accuracy could be achieved in the evaluation of the quality of seedlings by adopting the simple relative seedling index No.4 (=shoot fresh weight /seedling height), or the compound seedling index No.5 formed on the basis of more than one relative index and quantity property (= (stem diameter /seedling height) × plant dry weight ×number of leaf).
