Their irregular traits makes economic cultivation harder. In this research, we develop djulis gerplasm, reproducing seeds of collected strains, and investigating their on-field traits. So far, we have collected 20 accessions from Taitung, Hualien and Pingtung. According to the polymorphism of spike colors, we preliminary organize serial number into 1-3 more detailed catalog (1 as orange-red, 2 as peach-red and 3 as orange yellow), and traits like plant height, stem length, spike length, spike weight, number of branches, grain weight and shelling rates were also recorded. We hope to select new djulis varieties with short mature period, short plant height and high grain weight. |
