1. The mass selection of Niger
The aim of this experiment is to develop a new Niger variety which might be against lodging and resistant to disease. We conduct a mass selection as the breeding procedure and hope to gain a significant genetic improvement in the original species.The results indicated that the newly selected variety has the better characters as a green manure crop and so as a landscape crop while compared to a existent cultivar and two Africa varieties.
2. The collection and utilization of legume manures on mulching.
The purpose of this project are study newly legume manure on paddy field, two kind of green manure crops Crotalaria Juncea L. and Crotalaria assamica Benth are compared. It has many good characteristics such as growth rapidly, mulching, and weed control on Crotalaria Juncea L., but the average of biomass, lateral brenches and number of rhizobium per plant are high on Crotalaria assamica Benth.
Pea aphis, Armyworm, Soybean pad borer and Powdery mildew is also appeared the field. Seeds of Crotalaria assamica Benth treated by hot water soaking for 24hrs the highest percentage of germination was 70~75%, and increased soil organic matter contents 0.6% after plowing, affect by photoperiodisun, planting on September, and flowering periods on November, it also recommend applied to ornamental for fall season.
