Unstable production and low yield of cultivated garlic in Taiwan were mainly due to varietal depression and susceptible to virus diseases. In order to save garlic industry in Taiwan, several experiments have been conducted to select good horticultural characters combined with high yield, good quality and resistance to virus disease of new garlic varieties which favoured for growing in tropical humid conditions.
