Results showed that both No. 132 and No. 183 lines had higher total yield, early yield, and better diseases resistance to downy mildew and viruses, more appealing color and better flavor than commercial varieties. Most of the cucumber commercial varieties were susceptible to zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV), and the resistance to ZYMV were controlled by a single reccessive gene, therefore, a program for transfering the resistance gene to the commercial or local varieties was conducted by both hybrid and backcross breeding method. Screening cucumbers resistance to downy mildew and powder mildew were also in process. |
