Abstract:	1895年10月，美國農部 D. W. Coquillett 收到 Alabama, Dillburg 及 Montgomery 等地之受害高梁果穗，經檢查結果發現果粒受一種癭蠅科 ( Cecidomyiidae ) 幼蟲危害。其後，1898年9月26日自 Texas, College Station, R. H. Price 處得到癭蠅成蟲之標本，經鑑定後於1899年正式發表了高梁癭蠅 Contarinia sorghicola ( Coquillett ) 之學名。
