STRESS PHYSIOLOGY OF SWEET POTATOES (2). A REEVALUATION OF FLOODING EFFECT

Abstract

The after-effect of flooding on the growth of 45-and 100-day-old sweet potato plants was investigated. The 45-day-old plants tended to resume their normal growth during receovery from flooding. However, no such capabilities for 100-day-old plants were observed. Grafting experiments indicated that sink capacity of sweet potatoes seems to be important in determining flooding tolerance in terms of dry and fresh weight of tuberous roots. 本研究係探討生長45天與100天之甘藷，經淹水處理後之生長反應。生長45天之甘藷淹水後，可恢復正常之生長。然而，生長100天之甘藷淹水後，則無此效應。利用嫁接技術所進行之試驗結果，顯示積儲能力之大小可決定甘藷耐淹能力之大小。
