Abstract:
Scanning electron microscopy was used to examine the antennal sensory plaque organs of 104 species in 81 genera of Delphacidae. The plaques have the same external morphology in all examined Delphacidae. Four types of sensory plaque organs are recognized based on the morphology of the denticle, and the evolutionary trends are proposed as Type 1→Type 2→Type 3 and Type 1→Type 2→Type 4.
