There are 4 species of mealybugs attacking citrus foliage and fruit on this Island recorded namely Nipaecoccus filamentosus (Cockerell) , Planococcus citri (Risso), P. lilacinus (Cockerell) and Ferrisiana virgata (Cockerell). The first 2 mentioned mealybugs are the major citrus insect pests. Synonyms, distribution and host plants are breifly noted under each species but morphology, biology and natural enemies of Nipaecoccus filamentosus (Cockerell) are described more completely. | en_US |
