鳳梨粉介般蟲是鳳梨園主要害蟲,因為鳳梨粉介殼蟲傳播鳳梨萎凋病,造成生產鳳梨之經濟損失。從研究粉介般蟲和螞蟻的相關性,顯示粉介殼蟲依賴媽蟻保護才能生長繁殖。在台灣防治鳳梨粉介殼蟲的方法是鳳梨種苗先浸殺蟲劑才種植,田間施用推薦之殺蟲劑。要防治鳳梨萎凋病,應同時防治與鳳梨粉介殼蟲共棲之螞蟻。
Pineapple mealybug, Dysmicoccus brevipes ( Cockerell ) is a key insect pest of pineapple. Economic damage to commercial pineapple production arises from the mealybug wilt of pineapple which is transmitted by the pineapple mealybug. The relationship between mealybug and ants has been studied. The mealybug appears to be completely dependent on the activity of ants for its vigorous growth and reproduction. The control methods used in Taiwan is dipping of planting materials and followed by spraying the growing plants with insecticides. Control of ants is recommended, it is considered essential for control of mealybug wilt of pineapple.
