In the tropics, the temperature is not low enough to induce or promote flowering of most cruciferous crops, except in the highland. Highland seed production faces difficulties however due to frequent rain in the season. This study was carried out to evaluate the methods 0f vernalization for seed production of crucifers in the tropics and substropics. Using the hasic development theory, cruciferous crops were grown and vernalized in the highlands and then the mother plants were transplanted to the warmer and drier lowlands for photo-phase development. This technique made possible the successful seed production of cabbage and kohirabi in Taiwan.
