Abstract
台農l號印度棗係於1991年在高朗1號中發現之芽條變異品系，於1992-1993年進行變異性狀穩定性調查，確定為可遺傳之變異後，1994-1995年進行品系比較試驗，於1996-1997年分別在鹽埔及大社等鄉鎮進行區域試驗，產品深受產銷雙方喜愛，經新品種命名審查委員會於87年12月22日正式通過命名為台農1號，其品種特性，葉濃綠，莖灰褐色，枝條柔軟富彈性，結果枝梢刺短且少，易於栽培管理。
Indian jujube (Zizyphus mauritiana Lam.) Tainung No.1, a bud sport of Kaolung No.1, was found in Pingtung in 1991. Thereafter, Fengshan Tropical Horticultural Experiment Station, made a horticultural characteristics stabililty evaluation experiment on this new selected mutation cultivar in 1992 and 1993 and assured this new cultivar was a hereditary cultivar. Testing experiment in the new cultivar was conducted from 1994 to 1995. In the years of 1996 and 1997, a regional trial was carried out at YanPaw and Dahsheh. The results indicated that the yield and quality of this new cultivar were much better than the most popular commercial variety, Kaolung No.1. This cultivar was evaluated and designated as Tainung No.1 in 1998.
