It was found that, except of starch, the contents of protein, soluble sugars and ash can be measured by the NIRS technique. The R2 values of predictions for these three compositions were all higher than 0.94. Also, the differences and the stand errors of measurements using the conventional chemical method and the NIRS were small in the twenty entries of this study. It indicated that the NIRS with the regression equations can be used as a mass screening tool for breeding programs. |
