Abstract
臺灣白及〔Bletilla formosana (H.) S.〕係臺灣固有植物，種子於自然狀態下不易萌芽，且傳統分芽緊殖法速度極為緩慢，致產量不足，無法供為藥用。Pai-chi (Bletilla formosana) was first recorded in Shen-Nung-Pen-ts'ao-Ching (神農本草經) under inferior category and was also recorded of the China in the successive Pents'aos of the descending dynasties. It has been widely used as astringent styptic for haematemesis, anti-bacteria and anti-tumor. The tubers collected from plants grown in the mountain or propagated by traditional methods are far from enough for medicinal used.
