Jute, Hoowae blue No.7 and kenaf, Madras red, were grown at the different rates of fertilization and a study. was made on the different behaviors. in the uptake of nutrient elements between them. Pot culture with the same treatments was also conducted so as to collect the shedded leaves during growth and the nitrogen content in leaves between jute and kenaf was compared. The dry matter content both of jute and kenaf increased significantly with the increasing rate of fertilization up to a certain level, beyond which, however, an increased supply of fertilizers was unaccompanied by further striking increase in plant growth.
