柑橘珠心胚苗與受精胚苗之分離可利用枳殼三葉顯性遺傳之特性。取枳殼為花粉親分別雜交葡萄袖、桶柑、碰柑及苦柚。其雜交種子播種後，萌生三葉實生苗者為受精胚苗，與單葉之珠心胚苗其分別甚為顯著。據調查： Marsh 葡萄抽之珠心自胚苗率達 51.5%， Ruby 葡萄柚 57.8%，桶柑 78%，椪柑 100%。苦柚僅萌生受精胚苗。受精胚苗之初期生長具顯著之雜種優勢。
The nucellar seedlings and zygotic seedlings of citrus can be accurately discriminated from leaves by using the dominant inherited character of trifoliate orange. Marsh grapefruit, ruby grapefruit, tankan, ponkan and one variety of shadock were crossed with trifoliate orange pollens. Th collected hybrid seeds were sowed and two different types of Seedlings were observed and then, separated. The zygotic seedlings are trifoliate in leaf character which is inherited from the pollen parent and the nucellar seedlings are monofoliate. The number of nucellar seedlings was recorded with a percentage as follows: marsh grapefruit 51.5%, ruby grapefruit 57.8%, tankan 78%, ponkan 100%and shadock 0%. It was found that there was a significant heterosis of zygotic seedlings in their initial growth.
