Abstract
棉纖維上半長度與纖維強度之正相關係數，雖然各年均顯著，但程度甚淺。足見長絨品種類型或中絨品種類型之內，強度之變異不小。故應利用強度大之棉種雜交以增進強度，期得配合紡紗需要。
Measurements of upper half mean length and tensile strength were made for 58 varieties in 1960, most of which were just introduced abroad in that year. The correlation coefficient between these two factors is found to be 0.47±0.11 and 0.38± 0.09 in test and observation respectively.
In 1961, the test in 1960 was repeated and the correlation coefficient is found to be 0.38±0.11
All these correlation coefficients are significant, although the values are low. However, the strength of long staple variety group or medium staple variety group varies in considerable range. It may be enstrengthened by hybridization.
