昆蟲是全球最有價值的生物之⼀,為人類提供無數的生態服務。在農作物生產過程,對昆蟲物種與生態的瞭解不足,導致錯誤鑑定或失去防治先機,讓其中⼀些昆蟲變為害蟲狀態,並損害我們的作物和經濟。昆蟲分類學在增強社會經濟方面發揮著重要作用,正確的鑑定和分類可為社會節省成本並改善經濟。支持分類學研究有以下好處,包括有助於記錄本土物種多樣性、評估和利用;透過對益蟲的精準鑑定,並從往昔文獻獲得相關的生物學和生態學資訊,以加速生物防治的應用;同時,植物有害生物檢疫也因快速和準確的鑑定,進而提出明快的決策。本文目的旨就昆蟲蒐藏品、昆蟲鑑定以及昆蟲分類對農業的重要性,提出⼀個平衡的觀點。
Insects are one of the most valuable organisms in the world. They provide innumerably ecological services to humans. Most of the services performed by these creatures go unnoticed. Insufficient understanding of insect species and ecological science during crop production leads to misidentification or loss of control opportunities, allowing some insects to reach pest status and damage our crops and economy. Insect taxonomy plays a valuable role in enhancing the economy of society and agriculture. Correct identification or taxonomy has saved money and improved the economy of society and agriculture. Supporting taxonomic research would have several benefits, including helping to document native species diversity, assessment, and utilization; through accurate identification of beneficial insects, and then obtaining relevant biological and ecological information from historical literature, and accelerating the application of biological control; simultaneously, plant quarantine also makes clear decisions due to rapid and accurate identification. The aim of this article is to provide a balanced view on the importance of insect collections, insect identification, and insect classification to agriculture.
