Abstract
The two-year's results of soil hilling test indicate that the hilling height of 25cm is profitable for white asparagus in sandy-loam and sandy soils. When hilled up to 35cm, the rate of tip spreading of spears and crooked ones was increased. In sandy-loam, the yield of the spears in the second year is lower than in the first year. In sandy soil, the yield of first grade spears increased in the second year, besides it produced erected spears with a little higher fiber content, however, on the view of economical point, sandy soil is much better, for it produced more spears and reduced the hilling labor during harvesting.
