Abstract
In the early days of Taiwan, the rice cultured were mostly native varieties (indicatype). Japanese varieties were later introduced to Taiwan for improvement. As a result, many japonica type rices locally known as "Ponlai" rice were developed. During the post-war years, rice breeding work has been carried out by the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute and all District Agricultural Improvement Stations; and considerable progress has been made especially on Ponlai rice.
本文系1976年5月間在臺北召開的中美稻作生產研討會上所報告者，對臺灣過去十年來稻遺傳育種之研究作一綜合性檢討。內容包括育種目標、育種程序、抗病育種(稻熱病、紋枯病、白葉枯病、黃萎病)、抗蟲育種、細胞質不稔系統及雜交水稻之育種、突變育種、抗鹽性育種、稻遺傳因子之分析及最近所育成之新稻品種等。
