Abstract: 
「紅心尾」為本省甘藷栽培最廣品種,具有中度耐寒性,現由於CO60ꭇ 線 5,000ꭇ 之處理後代後,已發現較親本耐寒性強之系統,亦發現較親本耐寒性弱之系統,經過M2,M3兩世代之繁殖選擇,性狀逐漸穩定。
"Red-flesh-tail" is the most popular native variety of sweet potato in Taiwan and is therefore selected as the mother stock for the experiments. Although extensively cultivated all over the Island in all seasons, this variety has several undesirable agronomic characters, notably the high water contents in tubers and the weak tolerance to occasional cold spells in the winter.
