Abstract: 
G. N. Collins 於1909年自中國玉米中發現蠟質基因,此種玉米之胚乳及花粉以碘液染色呈紫紅色,與一般之藍黑色不同。蠟質玉米之經濟價值較高,但目前有關農藝性狀之研究並不多見,因此本研究以不同來源之全套轉座蠟質系統與非蠟質優良自交系為材料,進行交配,探討蠟質基因在雌、雄配子體之競爭性,及對子實百粒重之影響,以供將來轉座同原系建立後,作為蠟質基因對於染色體轉座效應之參考。
Waxy gene was discovered by G. N. Collins from Chinese corn in 1909. The color of waxy endosperm and pollen appears purple-red when stained by iodine solution. The economic value of waxy corns is higher than non-waxy ones. There are few research reports about their agronomic characters.
