Abstract
亞麻(Linum usitatissium L.)屬亞麻科(Linaceae)，係一年生長日性自交纖維作物，天然雜交率在1.66%以下，原不適於本省冬季短日狀況下栽培，惟中日戰爭發生後，由於日本本島纖維資源不足，乃設法在本省栽培生產。當時以採製纖維為目的，至二次大戰末期，由於造船業塗料需求激增，亞麻仁價格高漲，種子收益遠勝於原莖，致使本省亞麻生產以纖維與種子並重。
"Tainung selection 2" flax (Linum usitatissium L.) was developed by the Tainan Fiber Crops Experiment Station in cooperation with the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute, Taichung, Taiwan. It is a composite of 23 resistant lines that survived on the naturally wilt-infested soil in the 1972/73 growing period. Prior to its naming and release, "Tainung selection 2" was grown in comparative disease, yield and fiber quality tests for 2 years at various flax growing areas.
